- Notes: Sean Fleming and his Red Hot Peppers Band will play Dixieland and Ragtime music Sunday, July 28, at 3 p.m., at Johnson Field Preserve at Mackerel Cove, 25 Abner Point Rd, Bailey Island. Included will be pieces originally played by “Jelly Roll” Morton, Louis Armstrong, Scott Joplin, the New Orleans Rhythm Kings and more. Such early Dixieland style hits as “The Chant”, “Black Bottom Stomp”, “Tiger Rag,” “Bill Bailey,” and more will be performed. Audience members are invited to bring a chair and to come tap their feet, as the band plays hits from the dawn of the Jazz Age. The Red Hot Peppers will include the same configuration as “Jelly Roll” Morton used in his trend-setting Red Hot Peppers in the 1920s; with Sean Fleming on piano, Phil Clement on banjo and guitar, Glen Sargent on clarinet, Allen Millett on drums, Doug Kennedy on trombone and double bass, Peter Stuart on trumpet, and Anne-Marie D’Amico on tuba. This concert is presented by Islands Community Church. The rain location is Islands Community Church, 2141 Harpswell Islands Road (Rt. 24), Bailey Island. Admission is free.
