- Notes: ***Cancelled because of rain.*** Join pianist Sean Fleming, bassist Chuck McGregor, and drummer Allen Millett for the “Piano Potpourri Concert,” a collection of classical, jazz, rock, and Ragtime pieces, on Sunday, July 10th at 2:00, at the Woolen Mill Park in Warren. The concert will feature both old and new compositions by Stephen Foster, Scott Joplin, Alan Menken, Freddie Mercury, “Jelly Roll” Morton, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and “Fats” Waller. A rare set of variations on Foster’s famous song, “Beautiful Dreamer,” will be featured. Joplin’s famous Rag “The Entertainer” will be played. A virtuosic arrangement of Menken’s beautiful song “A Whole New World” and “Jelly Roll” Morton’s famous piece “Shreveport Stomp” will be played. Also included will be Mozart’s variations on “Ah, vous dirai-je maman” (better-known as the “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”). A special part of the concert will be rarely-performed transcriptions of Thomas “Fats” Waller’s piano arrangements, including “Keepin’ Out Of Mischief Now”. The centerpiece of the concert will be a tour de force arrangement for piano of one of the greatest rock songs of all time, Freddie Mercury’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”. A variety of other light jazz and popular pieces will be played. This concert is sure to be a favorite for people of all ages!
